In May 2022, Nova Scotia, Canada, suffered devastating forest fires and tremendous floods. Shortly afterwards, I stopped by to take photos of the burnt trees and rusty reflections. What amazed me was how Mother Nature was rising from the ashes. Bright green shoots and numerous plants were emerging from the blackened earth. Also the reflections of the trees in the rusty water. Nature offers hope.
In this batik I have tried to capture the after effects of the fire with the burnt ground and blackened trees. I also included the fires behind, the pouring rain. and the reflections of the trees in the large puddles created by the rain.
