Race to the Line
This is a batik painting of the race horse, Giant's Causeway, beating Kalanasi in a close finish in the Juddmonte International Stakes at York in 2006.
I love doing batiks of horses, especially ones in full gallop. This was a difficult batik to do. I first concentrated on applying wax and dyes to the horses and jockeys. I then waxed over them to protect them and I applied washes of dyes creating the background.
