Wash Day in Lisbon
I visited Lisbon in May and was astounded at the stunning tiles that ordained the buildings. I was taking photos of this washing line, when this woman came out to take the washing in, just as I took the photograph. It was perfect timing. It took me two months to create this batik painting on cotton of the woman and her washing line. I loved the patterns of the four balconies with the railings and the reflections in the windows The beautiful detailed blue Portuguese tiles that covered the front of the building took me a long time (and patience) to wax and dye as you can imagine. I am really pleased with the result.
