I was Head of Art at Cumnor House School for 28 years and enjoyed watching both the rehearsals and performances of the school's annual Shakespeare plays. I was watching this rehearsal and saw the director hold up his fingers as he demonstrated to the young actor who was playing 'Tom Snout', playing the role 'Wall', how he should show the 'chink' which Thisbe had to look through.
