A batik painting on cotton of two women relaxing in deckchairs by the River Thames. They are socially distanced (i.e. two metres apart). As the U.K. came out of the second lockdown, we were allowed to meet one other person who was not in our household, but we had to be socially distanced.
I love the abstract shadows created by figures sitting in deckchairs. Yet, to achieve the gradation of the stripes in batik, is difficult to do. I worked from light to dark, building up the dye washes, whilst I waxed the details at each stage. I think it worked this time!
